I'm finally starting to feel better! Sunday was the first day I noticed a big improvement in how I was feeling, so we decided to check out an estate sale. This was a perfect outfit for the crisp weather- I forgot how thick and warm this cardigan is!

This striped shirt is a new thrift find that I absolutely love. There was this one and a red striped one, and I got both. :) I'll probably be sporting the other one this coming weekend!

Estate Sale Treasure: Game Boy Games

We went to a mostly-bust estate sale this past Sunday, but I did snag these two Game Boy games! The Pokemon one is usually pretty pricey, so a buck is a good deal. We'll see if I like it!

Thrifty DIY: Googly Eye iPhone Case

 

Step One: Gather Supplies. Shown are: a Dollar Tree iPhone case and a $1 pack of self-adhesive googly eyes.

 Step Two: Start sticking those babies on! Remember to space them out and make the pattern interesting!

 Step Three: Keep sticking on the googly eyes. Spread them out, in case you run out of one kind and have to fill in with other googly eyes. (I, um, forgot this part.)

 Step Four: Fill in with smaller eyes, and then step back and admire your quirky handiwork!

I love my awesome, new Halloween-appropriate case! And the total cost was under $5! I'd say that was pretty thrifty, considering the inspiration for this DIY is $48 at Urban Outfitters. :)

Fall and Sickness

So, I'm still not feeling great. Sinus infections can beat you down. :( I'm going to take a couple days off from the blog to chill and recover (and I didn't find much this week, anyway). I'll see you in a couple days for a (probably-belated) Insta-Thursday.

Thrifted Vintage: Valley of the Dolls

Vintage Valley of the Dolls Book: Goodwill Outlet ($1)

This book has been on my thrift list for a long while. I already read it on my Kindle, but it's mostly the cover art and Pepto-colored book jacket that I like. :)

In other news, it looks like I have another sinus infection. I swear, my sinuses hate Virginia. I spent all of yesterday curled up in a ball in bed, and now I'm headed off to work. Wish me luck in getting through this week!

Yesterday morning, I gathered my thrifting supplies (purse, camera, hand sanitizer) and I was off! Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my camera's battery was dead.

Anyway, that's the explanation behind this camera-phone shot in the Love of Jesus parking lot.

In other news, the Bass loafers in this photo completely fell apart while I was wearing them yesterday. That pretty much sucked. I was walking through 60 West Antiques when I feel and hear a big 'floooop' sound coming from the ground. It was the whole bottom part of my shoe detaching itself...

I had to walk all the way back to the front of the store dragging that foot like I was injured. I suppose my pride was hurt a bit!

Detail Shot Saturday: An Awesome Necklace!

One of the cool things about where we live in Richmond is that there's a World Market down the road. :) I love the random international food/candy they have, but they have great accessories sometimes, too!

This necklace was on the clearance rack there for a couple bucks, and it's so neat! Also, navy blue and mustard are current faves. :)

Outfitted In: More Mustard :)

Here's Sunday's estate-sale-flea-market-movie-grocery-shopping outfit. :) I'm obviously loving my newly thrifted mustard cardigan with my pretty red bag! It's like the hot dog topping outfit combo. :)

Anyway, Sunday we went to this cool flea market we hadn't been to before, where we scored some homemade jam, some vintage costume jewelry, a video game, and a tote bag. And we saw the movie Pitch Perfect afterward, which was pretty funny!

Thrift Finds: Glittery Glasses

I love fun, dress-up sunglasses! I got a silver star-shaped pair at an estate sale a couple weeks ago, and I couldn't resist adding these to my little collection. :)

I might paint over the glitter with clear nail polish so it doesn't fall everywhere. That is, if I am brave enough to wear these babies out!

I didn't have much luck at all at the thrifts on Saturday, but I happened up a yard sale on my way home! I found some pretty cool things, including this sequin mask. :)

There was a whole box full of old Halloween stuff, and it was so much fun to go through. I think, in the past, I've given yard sales a bad rap, but maybe I should visit them more often!

Meet my newly thrifted mustard cardigan. It is super-soft! And it was two bucks!

Also: my newly thrifted Bass loafers. :) They are comfy and nice and I'm pretty much in love with them.

Anyway, so this was yesterday's thrifting outfit. I was in Family Thrift and a girl came up to me and said she really liked my outfit, which was awesome! I really like mustard and navy blue and red together. :)

Insta-Thursday #17

This was actually a pretty packed week! It was filled with: listening to Piano Man on my Fisher Price record player, watching ebayed BSC videos, picking through Goodwill Outlet (where I did some unicorn spotting), thrifting some awesome things for cheap, finding the best-ever boots, checking out mushroom-themed kitchen decor, re-discovering old pictures of the hubby and I, having a stare-down contest with Josh's parent's cat Ace, making homemade applesauce all by myself, and chilling out with Moxie. :) Whew! You can fit a lot into a week when you have a long weekend!

Outfitted In: Black and Red Leather

This is my newly thrifted leather jacket I scored at my local Goodwill for about ten bucks! The boots and bag were slightly pricier, but still super awesome! (Of course, you've seen this bag about a zillion times by now. It's definitely my favorite!)

If you're wondering about the change of background, we actually took this outside of TJ's right after I got these boots. I'd been thinking about them for days, and I had to go back to get them. They are super-nice leather and so comfortable! And they were on sale, so they ended up being about half the original price. :) I love a good deal.

Thrift Finds: Cold-Weather Mocs

I found these super-warm, comfy mocs at Family Thrift for under a buck. :)  I have a feeling that these, my Minnetonkas, and my new TJMaxx leather boots will be worn continuously this Fall and Winter!

This current cooler weather is just perfect. :) I love sweaters and boots and moccasins!!!

Thrift Finds: Goodwill Outlet Goodies :)

Books/VHS: Goodwill Outlet ($1.50 for all)

I came near the end of the stuff at Goodwill Outlet on Saturday, and my basket was still empty. There were just not many good things in the bins, I guess.

Luckily, I looked through the book and tape bins before leaving, because I ended up with a couple gems. :)

#1: One of the BSC books that was still on my list to find!

#2: The Nightmare Before Christmas on VHS...awesome.

#3: An old Judy Garland-themed fiction book with a neat cover. It seems like a Nancy Drew sort of book, but Judy Garland is the main character!

After work yesterday morning, I was off to the thrifts! While I came out mostly empty-handed, I did find a couple things. :)

As for the outfit...I re-discovered this grey shirt that was a former favorite! Ditto with these thrifted mustard yellow shoes. They are super-comfy, and I like how they look with my red bag. :)
