Blythe's Thrifted Outfit: Skates and Stripes

Ken Shirt; DIY Cut-off Shorts; Barbie Roller Skates: Goodwill Outlet; Book, Borders Closing Sale
In my haze of sickness, I totally forgot to post Blythe's thrifted outfit photo yesterday! Probably because I went ahead and took the photo last Sunday, when I decided to see if these light-up Barbie skates would fit Blythe's smaller feet. Luckily, they do! The hard part was finding a way to prop her up since the skates weren't very steady on their own.

A thrift store-cheap book to the rescue! This was one of the many, many books I got at the final Borders bookstore closing sale for $1.99. I used to work for Borders in Florida, so I was really sad to see our local store close, but I am excited to read all of my new books.

On another note, I am finally starting to feel better! It probably has to do with the huge amount of sleep I've been able to get over the past two days. It's amazing what antibiotics, sleep, medicine, and orange juice can do. :) Have a great weekend, everyone!!

Always,
Amanda

Flowers for Heads

Headless Lladro, Goodwill Outlet; Flower, Thrifted
Remember when I said I'd show you my "fixed" headless Lladro? Well, here he is in all his flower-headed glory, sitting on a shelf on my side of our bedroom. :) I might be (probably am) a little crazy, but I like it a lot! As I was in bed sick all day yesterday and now today, I've been staring up at Mr. Flowerhead and it has made me feel a little bit better. I hope you have a great weekend, and here's to hoping I start to feel better soon!

Amanda

Outfitted In: Spring and Florals

Floral Shirt, Bag, Jeans: Thrifted; Bag, Scarf, Fish Necklace: Estate Sale; Shoes, Plato's Closet
Man, has it been hot here in Richmond! (As you can probably tell from my 'glistening' face in this photo from Monday.) Anyway, I don't have too much to talk about today, since I've come down with a sinus infection and bronchitis, and I have a fever...

But yeah. Here's what I wore on Monday night for a quick, fruitless run to Goodwill before I realized how sick I really was. Another showing of one of last year's favorite finds: my lightweight floral shirt. My trusty spring market bag. A touch of yellow. Yup. I think I'm going to go to sleep now.

Etsy Favorite: "Book" Bags

Book Purse, prettytheory etsy
Remember when Natalie Portman carried a book-shaped clutch to a red-carpet event? I vaguely do- I mostly remember thinking, "Oh my gosh, I need that!!" Of course, the one she has is way out of my price range. Naturally, the search for one similar ended up on etsy, where I found this little shop full of vintage books made into bags and clutches!! For a person who loves old books and is obsessed with bags (aka: me), these are the perfect things. :)

I snatched up a Hardy Boys clutch from the seller, and I am also totally in love with the purse above! (I honestly wish I could have one of each, though...) I'll definitely have pictures, etc. when I get my clutch in the mail. In the meantime, you should check this shop out. :)

Amanda

Thrifted DIY: Doodled Purse

Vintage Dooney & Bourke Bag, Family Thrift/DIYed ($2)
When I saw this beat-up old Dooney bag at Family Thrift a couple weekends ago, I had to get it! Why? Well, it was only two bucks since the duck logo had been ripped off the front.

It took me a little while to figure out what I wanted to do with it. The other night, I was in a doodling mood, so I just drew hearts alllll over it. I kind of like it! While I'm definitely not a pro doodler, I think the hearts give it a touch of whimsy. :) And I'm all about whimsy!

Pretty Brooches

Vintage Brooches, Gift
My hubby's aunt brought my sis-in-law a couple containers full of old jewelry to look through, and of course my sis-in-law thought to show them to me too! I was lucky enough to be given these two beautiful brooches that are just my style. :)

The top one is especially neat, since it seems to have real age to it. It is heavy and pink and beautiful- thank you so much Aunt Melanie and Ashley!

Outfitted In: Easter Duds

Vintage Cardigan, Striped Shirt, Jeans, Sandals, Bag: Goodwill; Fish Necklace, Vintage Vera Scarf: Estate Sale
This is the outfit I wore yesterday, when we celebrated Easter with the hubby's family. :) We had a busy day, including lots of homemade food, an Easter egg hunt (I scored about nine bucks in coins from the eggs I found!), more food, church, and seeing the hubby's out-of-town relatives. It was a packed, but fun day.

Since we didn't have the chance to go thrifting yesterday, though, I'll have to be creative for next week's posts! I'm sure I can come up with something to talk about. :) I hope you have a great Easter!

Always,
Amanda
