#VintageSpotting in Lakeland :)

Hey guys! So...I am home sick, again. This time with a sinus infection and a small ear infection. Yuck. I went to the doctor today and got some antibiotics, though, so I should be feeling better soon!

Anyway, since I'm resting in bed today, I thought I might as well do a quick blog post. :)

A couple weekends ago, my dad and Josh and I went to Lakeland to check out some vintage and antique shops there. I didn't have any luck finding Jadeite that trip, but we spotted lots of cool things!

I really loved a lot of the furniture we saw at the Vintage Warehouse, and we'll definitely be going back there when we buy a house!

The cute vintage table and chairs in the last photo was a folding set! Even the table folded up! I really loved that set- I probably should have gotten them to use in the future!

Well, I hope everyone is doing well. Tomorrow's Friday, and then it's the weekend!!

Always,
Amanda

The Bar Cart!!!!

Everyone, meet our new bar cart!!! We found it at a huge antique mall by us, sitting there all perfect and on sale! :)

We already had most of the accessories for the cart, but we recently thrifted the glass ice bucket in the last photo. And I snatched up the fish toothpick holder at a thrift store in Texas!

The vintage colorful tumblers were a gift a couple years ago from my Grandma C. We think they look perfect in our new cart. :)

Happy Friday!

Amanda

Estate Sale Treasure: Gum Chains and Three Dog Night

60s Gum Chain ($2); Three Dog Night Record ($1): Estate Sale

We went to this crazy huge estate sale warehouse this past weekend. There were so many great things I liked, but these two things stood out. (Because of their affordable prices and because they are awesome.)

I'm using the gum chain as a Christmas decoration on our mantle, and I've been playing the record this week. :) I think that I might be more of a fan of the artwork on the cover than of this particular album, though.

Well, that's about all I have, folks! Tomorrow, we're off to Williamsburg to meet up with my family until Wednesday, and I am so stoked! I'll see you guys next Thursday with a (hopefully) fun-packed Insta-Thursday. :)

Amanda

A Guy Find :)

Vintage Japan Pipe Planter: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)

Vintage pipe planters are usually priced pretty high at antique shops because of their cool factor. But this little guy was mere pocket change, found in the Goodwill bins!

Josh has a couple of these that he likes to keep on our balcony, with things like matches in them. When something is cool-looking and functional, I'm all for it. :)

Estate Sale Treasure: 1960s Toy Cars!

1960s Toy Cars: Estate Sale ($0.50 for all)

I was drawn to the mix of colors of these toy cars, which were in a bag at Sunday's estate sale for fifty cents! I love that the type of car is on each trunk- I think my favorite is the shapely little Fiat!

Upon further research into my little cars, I found that they were popular cereal box favors back in the 1960s. A little boy probably carefully built up this collection and there they sat in the estate sale house for 50 years. It's crazy to think that someday the items we buy now will be considered vintage. Will the estate salers of the future collect old nail polish bottles?

Anyway, it's safe to say I really like my new little car collection. :)

Estate Sale Treasure: A Stetson Boater

Vintage Stetson Hat, Estate Sale ($2.50)
I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this vintage boater hat at the estate sale we went to last Sunday. When I saw that it was $2.50 and a Stetson, I went straight to the checkout before they could change their minds on the price!

As soon as we got home that evening, I searched online for a similar one to compare prices, and here's one I found on etsy. It's, um, $135. One hundred thirty-five dollars. What do you say? Deal of the week or what!? :)

A Little Fishy

Vintage Fish Ribbon, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
Goodwill Outlet this past Saturday was a gold mine of cool little vintage things! I especially loved this sturdy vintage ribbon with fish on it. :) (Yes, I know they are upside-down in the photo!)

I think I might try to make a belt with this eventually, but right now I have it wrapped around my computer chair to spice it up a little.

I hope your weekend is great! Mine starts this afternoon- so here's to hoping the morning goes by quick and easy!

Patchwork= Awesome

Patchwork Pillow, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
I am so in love with everything patchwork and/or quilted! There's something so homey about it that always draws me in. In the case of this awesome vintage pillow, I spotted it from across Goodwill Outlet...and speed-walked right to it! After some thorough washing, it's my new 'reading pillow'- the perfect size and shape for propping up my head to read book after book. :)

Speaking of books, what are you guys reading? I'm usually in the middle of quite a few at a time. Right now, I'm reading: On The Road by Jack Kerouac; Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert; and Bringing Home the Birkin by Michael Tonello. I have a bunch of books lined up to read as well! Such a book nerd. :)

What a Dollar Will Get You...

Vintage Unopened Tennis Balls; Vintage Wall Decor; Vintage Love Mug; All: Church Yard Sale ($1)
...At a church yard sale :) I saw this little sale at a local church on my way to the thrifts, and I had to stop! I'm glad I did, 'cause I picked up all these vintage goodies for a dollar!!!

My favorite thing here has got to be the 'Love' cup. :) So cute! I almost couldn't believe it when the lady at the booth said, "How about a dollar for all of it?" I just agreed and handed the dollar over with a huge smile on my face. :)

I also got the prettiest shades of OPI nail polish for a buck each, including the absolute perfect shade of peach. I'll definitely be showing it off soon. :)

Amanda

A Thing for Seed Beads

Vintage Beaded Coin Purse, Goodwill Outlet ($0.25)
You all know how much I love pretty vintage things, and what better than a vintage item made with tiny seed beads? I swear, one of these days all my tiny-beaded things will fall apart, and I'll never be able to get the little things off the floor. :)

But isn't this vintage coin purse pretty? I love finding things like this at Goodwill Outlet, because there's no markup for it being cool and old, like there would be at certain other thrift shops. And of course, you just can't beat the price!

Have a good one! :)

Pulling Vintage out of a Hat

Vintage Leather Wallet, Goodwill Outlet ($0.50)
I swear I talk about this every day, but it really is amazing what can be found in the Goodwill Outlet bins! In regards to vintage, especially.

I've found all sorts of old things...my favorites being a 1950s Viewmaster, 60s and 70s doll clothes for Blythe, and even 60s Barbie party napkins still in the plastic wrap! The new goes quickly at Goodwill Outlet, but the old still has a fighting chance of coming home with a non-elbow-throwing gal like me.

This vintage patent leather wallet is one of those finds I couldn't believe. It's in perfect condition, with the original card inside with the maker's info and a space for your vital numbers. Such a neat thing to grab out of a random bin filled with broken old cell phones, doll heads, and the like.

Ahhh, Goodwill Outlet. Always an adventure.

Always,
Amanda
