Christmas Decorating :)

My days are so messed up this week that I forgot about Insta-Thursday! Whoops! I do have some cool Instagram photos of Josh and I's trip to the Science Museum of Virginia last weekend, but those can wait. Because...it's Christmas decor time!!!

I got the Christmas decorating bug on Tuesday, and I dug out some of our Christmas things and got a couple new ones. :) We've got two Christmas tree scented candles, some holiday records, and lots of Christmas cheer to go around! Yay for holidays. :)

Thrifted Vintage: Jesus Clock!

Jesus Clock: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)

How awesome is this Jesus clock?! No, seriously. While it looks like something from the ironic bins at Urban Outfitters, it is actually from the '70s. :) And it works!

Jesus things are pretty cool because, well, Jesus is cool. And I just love finding things like this in the Goodwill bins. :) It makes my week!

Thrift Finds: Cats!

Cat Blanket: Family Thrift ($3); Cats Book: Goodwill ($1)

Here are my cat-themed finds from this past weekend. :) The blanket is a little cat-intense, but the book is actually pretty interesting. It's from the '50s, and it talks about feeding your cat chunks of meat and milk and making beds out of boxes. (The box thing I get, because I know some cats that love boxes!)

Thrift Finds: Bows and Stars!

Bow Print Skirt: Salvation Army ($3); Star Holiday Card Holder: Good Samaritan ($0.50)

I am not usually a skirt fan (as you can probably tell from my outfit posts!), but I just couldn't resist this one! Not only is the print super-awesome, but it fits perfectly. :) I'm thinking... Christmas skirt?

And I've already put the card holder to use with the Thanksgiving card from my Grandma C. :) I'll be filling it up soon with Christmas ones! I can't wait. :)

Thrift Finds: Record Rock

Vintage Records: Good Samaritan ($2 for all)

I was pretty stoked to find these records at Good Samaritan this past weekend, because their vinyl is always 2 for $1. :) While the crates are generally filled with random Christmas albums and 50s music, these were waiting just for me!

My favorite so far is the Doobie Brothers record, because it has the song "Black Water"- a personal favorite. :)

I hope everyone's weekend was great! Mine was pretty sweet- filled with thrifting, cleaning, guitar-playing, and museum-visiting. :)

It was so cold yesterday! But my plane sweater was both warm and lucky for my day of thrifting. :)

I found so many great things, for the first time in a while!!! I've been in a bit of a thrifting rut lately, and today made up for it. :)

I'm off to hang out with my hubby and perhaps play in the leaves!

I am really loving being a half-blonde half-brunette girl! Ombre hair is super great- my mom did such a great job with it. :)

I love how my hair looks in the sun, especially! And how it looks with my mustard sweater. :)

Outfitted In: Black and Blue

This was last Sunday's outfit, for a day of estate sale shopping, movie watching, and tire changing. (Well, waiting in the Goodyear lobby while they changed my tires!)

I love my newly thrifted Coach bag with my thrifted cozy moccasins. :) I'm usually not so matchy-matchy, but these go together so perfectly I couldn't resist pairing them!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday! We ate a ton, then went for a long walk. It was nicely low-key. :)

Insta-Thursday #23

Happy Thursday, everyone! And happy Thanksgiving. :) My week was mostly filled with work, but my days off were filled with some fun!

This week was full of: admiring the great job my mom did dyeing my hair, cuddling with the kitty and hubby, checking out the cool things at a flea market, deer-spotting at an estate sale, taking Moxie portraits, scoring awesome socks at Rugged Wearhouse and the coolest iPhone cover at TJMaxx, sporting Target fox slippers, and enjoying the last of the Fall leaves.

Thrift Find: Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac Record: CHKD Thrift ($2)

Another thrift find from Williamsburg is this Fleetwood Mac record. :) I had never seen this one, and then I thrifted it at one store and spotted it at another in the same week!

The album art is a little trippy, but I suppose a lot of covers from that era a bit out there. Funky covers are some of the best things about vintage records! That, and how cool they sound on a record player. :)

Thrift Finds: Unicorn-tastic!

Brass Unicorn: DAV Thrift ($4)

One of my Williamsburg finds was this perfectly awesome brass unicorn! I've been a little unicorn obsessed lately, and this one is my favorite find so far. :)

Funny story...my mom and her work partner were having an across-states thrift battle via text, and this little guy was part of it! When Gina texted my mom a photo of a thrift shop totem pole, we found one in our thrift and texted her back. :) Then, we raised her a unicorn. I think my mom won the battle, because Gina didn't find a unicorn in the thrift she was in!

So, I hit up my usual thrift stores after work yesterday, and I only found one thing! Granted it was another awesome vintage Coach bag...but still a little disappointing. The good news is that I did have some luck last week at the Williamsburg thrifts, so I'll be sure to photograph and share those finds. :)

Hey everyone! Our trip went by so super fast, but we had such a great time. :) One of the places we went was Jamestown Settlement, which was pretty awesome.

There's nothing like getting an outfit shot on a cool ship!

Also, these Converse are super awesome, with fringe on the back! And my brother Andrew got them for me while we were on our trip! He's the best brother ever, seriously. :) And, my mom dyed my hair!

Insta-Thursday #22

This fun-packed week was filled with lots of fun times in Williamsburg with family. :) Not everyone got the  Instagram lens treatment, but it was great to see Mom, Dad, Andrew, Grammy, Grandpa, Meredith, Aunt Shelley, Terry and Uncle Brian! It was also great for my in-laws to come up for the day Sunday to spend time with my side of the family. :) 

We shopped, we ate, we were touristy, we saw old-time re-enactments, and we tried on funny hats. :) We even got some thrifting in!!

Estate Sale Treasure: Gum Chains and Three Dog Night

60s Gum Chain ($2); Three Dog Night Record ($1): Estate Sale

We went to this crazy huge estate sale warehouse this past weekend. There were so many great things I liked, but these two things stood out. (Because of their affordable prices and because they are awesome.)

I'm using the gum chain as a Christmas decoration on our mantle, and I've been playing the record this week. :) I think that I might be more of a fan of the artwork on the cover than of this particular album, though.

Well, that's about all I have, folks! Tomorrow, we're off to Williamsburg to meet up with my family until Wednesday, and I am so stoked! I'll see you guys next Thursday with a (hopefully) fun-packed Insta-Thursday. :)

 This week was full of: cat hangers that look like Moxie, BSC books to get me through my sick days, hanging up sunglasses, enjoying the Fall weekend weather, sporting my Five Below sunnies, wandering through an estate sale warehouse, capturing upside-down kitties, rocking the vote, and trying Blood Orange San Pellegrino. :)
