Thrift Find: Japanese Kitty

Made in Japan Cat Stuffed Animal, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
I was so excited to find this cute cat stuffed animal at Goodwill Outlet this past Monday! Its tag says that it was made in Japan in 1979. :)

Beside the cat's cool origin, I love its unique look. It's like a large, cat-shaped jelly bean. :)

Well, that's about all I can muster for today. But hey, it's Friday!!

Thrift Finds: Shoes That Sparkle

Leather Loafers, Goodwill Outlet ($2.50)
There is no kind of shoe that I want to wear more right now than loafers. They're comfy and cute. Pretty much exactly what I look for in my wardrobe choices. :)

These in particular are awesome because, well, they're leather and they're sparkly!

Bonus: these loafers are particularly well-made, so I'm hoping they last me awhile. :) 'Cause when you find perfect loafers and they wear out (like my poor leopard print ones...) it really stinks!

Have a great Thursday! We're inching our way to the weekend!

Outfitted In: Pandamonium

Panda Shirt: F21; Jeans, Bag: Thrifted; Necklace: DIY; Shoes: Missoni for Target
Sunday, we had a quiet day of estate sale shopping and hanging out at the apartment. (The hubby had to study for a test all day, and I was having a sneezing fit...)

This loose, soft tee was perfect for a lazy Sunday. Plus, it has pandas on it, which matches with my new Xbox360 gamertag nicely. :) (Email me if you want to play Call of Duty Black Ops! I'm pretty bad, but it's fun!)

Also of note: I was able to snag a pair of Missoni for Target flats at my local store the other day! They're pretty much sold out everywhere, so I felt pretty lucky to find a pair in my size. :)

Have a good one!

Amanda

Thrift Finds: Pretty in Plastic

Plastic Costume Jewelry, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
Well, I went back to Goodwill Outlet yesterday afternoon, and I did much better! I was able to walk away with quite a few vintage treasures, some books to read, and this non-metal costume jewelry. :)

The pink necklace is very bright and cheery- perfect for pairing with Fall colors like mustard yellow and dark green. And the bracelet is a very cool see-through black, and it's just the right size for slipping on but not falling off. :)

It makes me so happy to find cute non-metal jewelry to wear! I'm building quite the unique collection. :)

Thrift Find: A Groovy Tin

Vintage Tin Canister, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
I have to say, the thrifts were pretty barren this past weekend! By the time I got to Goodwill Outlet after a morning of work, it was super busy. It seemed like all the hardcore-thrifting, glove-wearing, pushing-and-shoving people filled the place to the brim!

On those days, it's just not fun for me to thrift. I'd rather not shed blood over a fake LV purse, thankyouverymuch. :)

So, I just went through the near-empty bins and came out with a couple little vintage things, including this groovy tin. I love the 60s-like print and the pretty color palette, and it goes well in our little kitchen. :)

Good news: I get off a little early today, so I'll head back to G.O. and maybe score something more exciting! Fingers crossed. :)

Amanda

Outfitted In: Black + Brown

Shirt, Jeans, Bag: All Thrifted; Shoes: eBay; Sheer Cardigan: F21; Feather Hair Clip, gift
This brown leather bag is so perfect for a day of thrifting! It fits everything I need: my wallet, hand sanitizer, phone and keys.

I love the way a brown bag stands out with a black top, too. There is definitely such a thing as too much black in one outfit! :)

Other exciting things about this outfit: my $13 eBayed Stubbs and Wootton loafers, my new feather hair clip from a sweet co-worker, and my F21 sheer cardigan. :)

Have a great day!!

Amanda

Detail Shot Saturday: The Blues

Cardigan, Shirt, Necklace: All Thrifted
Blue is definitely one of my favorite colors (right after green), so I love wearing it. It just seems like a happy color to me, which is strange because for most people 'the blues' would be a bad thing. :)

This leather and glass necklace was a favorite thrifted find from my trip to Pensacola a couple months ago. It seems very beachy to me, with the glass beads and sea colors. Perfect for the last weekend of summer.

While I'm a fan of long, warm days and blockbuster movie season, I'm glad that Fall's here. :) It's just about my favorite thing about living in Richmond. (Other than the hubby, of course!)

Thrift Finds: Hand Knit Colors

Hand Knit Scarves, Goodwill ($1 each)
I love, love, love these two hand knit scarves I found at the local Goodwill the other day. :) The pink one is so super-bright and thick. It'll be perfect for upcoming cool days. The striped one is also fun, with all the neat colors and the handmade quirky touch. For a dollar each, these can't be beat!

Happy Friday, everyone. :) I work tomorrow morning, but then I'll be off to the thrifts! I might even do a little bit of DIY craftiness this weekend!

Estate Sale Treasure: Gold Member

Cat Pins and Necklace ($1 for all); Vintage Gold Change Purse ($0.50)
There were a lot of little treasures at Sunday's estate sale, including these gold-hued finds. :) I grabbed all of the kitty costume jewelry, which was a steal at 3 for $1.

The vintage change purse is pretty fragile, but the design is so intricate and lovely! I love finding nice vintage things for super-affordable prices. :)

Did any of you hit up an estate sale this past weekend? I'd love to hear about your finds!!

Amanda

Outfitted In: Bright Blue and Basics

Cardigan, Shirt, Shoes, Necklace: All Thrifted; Anna Corinna Bag: eBay; Jeans, Burlington
This was Sunday's laid-back outfit, perfect for a day of estate sale hunting, Vietnamese food, and a Goodwill run.

The most exciting thing about this outfit (at least for me!) is the return of my favorite vintage cardigan. :) I'm so excited to be able to layer again!

I hope your week is going well so far. :)

Estate Sale Treasure: Roooar!

Vintage Made in Japan Lion Figure, Estate Sale ($1)
It had been awhile since the hubby and I had gone to an estate sale, but we fixed that on Sunday! It was a particularly fun one, too, because everything was 75% off. :)

This lion figure caught my attention from a table full of glass and ceramic animals. Although I was tempted by some (much more expensive) blue and black cats, this lion called my name!

I mean, look at that face! :)

Thrift Finds: Toms Wonderful

Toms, Goodwill Outlet ($2.50)
I've been wanting a new pair of Toms for awhile (specifically the silver or gold ones!), so when I spotted these in the Goodwill bins, I grabbed them. Happily, they are my size!

When I got home, I gave them a thorough washing, and they're good as new. :) I have plenty of blue and green in my wardrobe, so I can see these getting lots of wear this Fall.

These are the only things I thrifted on Saturday, but the hubby and I hit up an awesome estate sale yesterday that yielded fun vintage finds. :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Amanda

Outfitted In: Sweater Weather!!

Missoni for Target Sweater: Target; Shirt, Jeans, Loafers, Necklace: All Thrifted; Anna Corinna Bag, eBay
I almost can't believe this weekend's 60-something temps! It's finally sweater weather, folks! (Well, at least for the weekend...)

For my first sweater of the season, I had to sport my new Missoni for Target one! When I went to Target after work this past Tuesday, all the women's Missoni things were sold out. But the men's items weren't, so I grabbed this cozy sweater. :)

Also new in this outfit is my freshly eBay-ed Anna Corinna leather bag! I was so excited to find one for wayyyy less than the current Foley & Corinna bags, which go for hundreds. :)

Have a great Sunday!!

Amanda

Detail Shot Saturday: Manimals

Vintage Animal Shirt, Necklace, Minnetonka Mocs: All Thrifted
While my mocs aren't super-expensive Manimals, I couldn't resist the title for this post! Once the word popped into my head, there was no getting it out. :) Does that ever happen to you?

Anyway...

I really love this animal shirt. I know it's super-ugly and everything, but at the same time I just think it's amazing! Who's with me?

And I know for a fact that I will wear these thrifted Minnetonkas into the ground. The color, the fringe, the comfy suede...just perfection.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. :) I know that I will enjoy mine!!

Amanda

Thrift Finds: Spectacles and a Tie

Vintage Safety Spectacles; Animal Tie: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
These vintage safety spectacles are so cool! They don't have any magnification, so I can actually wear them. :) Bonus that they were in the original box!

The tie is a lot like my animals shirt. It is quite over-the-top, but I still love it! Maybe I can get the hubby to wear it sometime- I know he can pull it off. :)

Have a great Friday, everyone! I am so, so glad for this week to be over.

Amanda

Thrift Find: Thanks for the Memories

San Francisco Cable Car Music Box, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
I loved my family's May trip to San Francisco. :) It was so lovely there, and we had such a great time! The souvenirs were on the expensive side though, and we didn't have much room in our bags to bring things home.

When I found this San Francisco cable car souvenir at Goodwill Outlet, I was pretty excited! At less than a dollar, it was so much cheaper than the ones there, and I didn't have to stuff it in luggage. Win, win. :)

Outfitted In: Pink and Cream

Vest, Jeans, Sandals, Necklace: All Thrifted; Shirt, Target Clearance; Vintage D&B Purse, Gift from Grammy :)
This pink necklace is my new favorite Goodwill Outlet find! I love digging out non-metal jewelry from the bins, and this huge beauty is so unique. :)

I felt like layering a little bit on Sunday, and this vest fit the bill. I really can't wait for it to be true sweater weather again!

Speaking of sweaters, I went to Target yesterday and got a Missoni for Target boyfriend sweater. :) I'm so excited to wear it this weekend!

Thrift Finds: Flower Power

Vintage Pressed Flower Art, Flower Press: Goodwill Outlet ($1)
I love pressed flowers, especially when they represent good memories. :) I've never had an actual flower press (I always just used an old book!), but I'm excited for this one!

The pressed flower art shown above says 'Made in England' on the back, which is pretty cool. :) I love the two frames as wall art for my side of our bedroom! My side is very girlie, while the hubby's has vintage tobacco pipes on stands, a humidor, airplane stuff, and other very manly things. :)

I hope your week is going well!!

Amanda

Thrift Finds: Tinted Leather

Loafers ($2), Kenneth Cole Wallet ($0.50): Goodwill Outlet
I try not to think too hard about my 'thrift list'. While I have things in mind that I'm looking for, if I focus on them too much, I never seem to find them!

A new (to me) pair of shoes for work was definitely on my list, so I was stoked to find this pair! I love black and brown together, and I've never seen it on a pair of loafers before. :)

Also on my mind was a new wallet. While I love the Kenneth Cole one I thrifted awhile ago, the inside compartments weren't ideal. So this new KC wallet was perfection at 50 cents and with a full zipper so nothing falls out!

Have a great Monday! (Or is that an oxymoron? ;))

Outfitted In: Lions and Tigers and Bears...

Vintage Animal Shirt, Bag, Necklace, Minnetonka Mocs: All Thrifted; Jeans, Burlington
I just had to grab this animal print shirt the last time I was at my local Goodwill. It's super soft, it's vintage, and it has tons of animals on it. A little over-the-top...but totally awesome. :)

Thrifting yesterday was pretty great, too! I scored some great loafers for work and some neat vintage things! Good times. :)

Detail Shot Saturday: What Some Might Call an 'Arm Party'

Jesus Bracelet, Beaded Bracelets, Friendship Bracelet: All Thrifted; Leather Bracelet, San Francisco; Gold Bracelet, Gift

I'm totally digging the friendship bracelet trend! I'm loving getting to wear tons of bracelets at once, especially since it's usually so difficult finding ones I can wear. :) (For those of you who might be newer to the blog, I can't wear most metals. Big time bummer, let me tell you!)

Anyway, this assortment of bracelets I especially loved wearing because they were found all over the place!  Some are from my Pensacola trip, one from my San Francisco trip, and the rest from here in Richmond. :) I have a nice little collection going, but I'm always on the lookout for more!

Have a great, great weekend everyone! I'm so excited for it!

Amanda

Outfitted In: Grey Like the Sky

Shirt, Jeans, Bag, Necklace, Bangles: All Thrifted; Saltwater Sandals, eBay; Hair Pin, Target
Monday made for a very overcast Labor Day, which I loved. :) There's nothing like clouds to cover the sun's hot rays and wind to keep things cool. It made me excited for Fall, for sure!

Befitting of the weather, I wore this comfy grey shirt with a faux pearl tassel necklace. To feel like myself, I had to add the little pop of color from my collection of yellow bangles, though!

It's been a rainy week here in Richmond, but it's Friday! I'm so looking forward to the weekend. :)

Thrift Finds: Here, Kitty Kitty

Vintage Cat Stuffed Animal; Wooden Cat Toy: Goodwill Outlet (~$1)
Ever since little Moxie cat came into our lives, I've been on the lookout for kitty things. I couldn't help but fall for this cute 80s stuffed cat, which I promptly hand washed so it's as good as new. :)

The strange, holey wooden device is actually a cat toy! I recognized it from an infomercial, and I knew I had to get it for Moxie. You just put little toys and treats in the various holes and the kitty goes wild trying to get them out. She loves it, and you can't beat less than a buck for hours of kitty entertainment. :)

Outfitted In: A Sort of Safari

Shirt, Bag, Bracelets, Flats: All Thrifted; Jeans, Burlington; Vintage Ray Bans, eBay
This was an outfit for a different sort of Sunday than usual. Instead of hitting up an estate sale and seeing a movie, the hubby and I headed to Williamsburg for Busch Gardens and an antique shop gas station. (Yup, an antique shop in an old gas station!)

Although it was pretty hot out, we had a great time. :) The hubby even commented that my animal print top was quite appropriate for a Busch Gardens trip! The Busch Gardens in Tampa is more safari-like, though. :)

Have a great Wednesday! Ahhhh...short weeks are my favorite!

Thrift Find: A Leaf of Glass

Vintage Leaf Plate, Goodwill Outlet (<$1), Goodwill Outlet
This glass vintage leaf-shaped plate caught my eye right away as I was looking through the Goodwill Outlet bins. Although it's probably meant to be used to serve food, I like it to hold pretty pieces of jewelry. :) And I love the different shades of green, my favorite color since childhood.

I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend, if you had off. I sure needed a longer weekend! Have a great week!

Thrift Find: Metal Baskety Goodness

Vintage Metal Basket, Goodwill Outlet (~$1)
I was excited to find this neat-looking basket in the Goodwill Outlet bins this Saturday! It's pretty heavy, but because the price of bin items is around 50 cents a pound, this basket was only about a dollar. :)

I've already found a place for it in our living room as a catch-all for sunglasses. It's perfect, because I can just grab a pair when I'm on my way out the door!

Happy Labor Day. :)

Oufitted In: Floral and Fringe

Floral Shirt, Necklace, Vintage Bloomingdale's Bag, Fringe Sandals: All Thrifted; Jeans, Target Clearance
When I got home from a crazy morning/early afternoon of work, I didn't want to put any thought into my thrifting clothes. Naturally, I grabbed my favorite shirt, the nearest jeans, my new necklace and some black accessories.

Surprisingly, I liked how my haphazard outfit turned out! Don't you love when things just come together easily?

Well, I am off to enjoy the rest of my long weekend with the hubby and kitty! Have a good one. :)

Detail Shot Saturday: Groovy Glasses

Vintage Ray Ban Sunglasses, etsy

Well, I had a whole post written about these sunnies, and it was erased somehow! Hmmm. Basically, it went like this: "These sunnies are very 60s and I love them! Thus the vintage tint to the photo, which seemed fitting to the era."

Happy Weekend!

Thrift Finds: Shells and Beads

Vintage Made in Japan Necklace and Shell Decor: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
Here are the last finds from this past Saturday's Goodwill Outlet run. :) You can definitely tell these were hurricane finds because of the foggy photos! (I always take photos right when I get home from thrifting, or else I'll forget to!)

The beaded necklace is super long, which is perfect for doubling it. I couldn't wait to wear it- it was featured in the last outfit post!

The hanging shell decor is also pretty neat. I immediately hung it in our balcony, where it survived the storm without even losing a shell!

I hope you have a great Friday. :) I work tomorrow morning, but then it's a long weekend! I don't know about you, but I really need it!!

Amanda

Thrift Find: Vintage Trimlite

Vintage Kodak Trimlite Camera, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
This flat little camera caught my eye in the Goodwill Outlet bins because of the faux-wood finish on the top. :) It's hard to tell in a photo, but in person this camera is very small, flat, and 70s-like. True to its name, it is very trim and light.

I really love the look of these older cameras, but I have a hard time finding any film sources for them. Do any of you have a special place you get hard-to-find film?

Always,
Amanda
