Thrift Find: Kitty in Red

Kitty Coin Purse: Goodwill ($0.99)
I found this kitty coin purse at my local Goodwill the other day. :) It's not only super-cute, but it serves a purpose too! You've got to love when functional items are also adorable.

Now, to gather all the coins from the bottom of my bag and put it to use...

Thrifted Vintage: Batman!

Vintage Batmobile: Love of Jesus ($5)
Though the front is a little chipped, I had to have this vintage Batmobile! It is just so cool! I love that the Batman and Robin are still inside. :)

Upon a little research, I got a pretty good deal for it, too! The best part is that it has a little circle in the back that was originally a tow for a Batboat. (?) But I think I'm going to make this into the most nerd-awesome necklace ever. Heck yes!

Retail Price: $16.39 on Amazon

Thrifted Price: $0.99 at Good Samaritan

Outfitted In: Snakeskin and Glitter

Shirt, Jeans: Thrifted; Sunnies, Flats: TJMaxx; Jacket: Target

I've always wanted to take an outfit picture in front of this storage building because I love the color. Yesterday was the perfect day for a quick shot, with a blue sky to match!

I love this snakeskin print shirt I thrifted the other day. It is a little unusual, but it was just the find I needed to update my wardrobe a bit. :) With my new sunglasses and my faux leather jacket, I was looking wayyyy tougher than I actually am.

These glitter flats were a recent TJMaxx clearance find. They're the kind you're supposed to roll up and keep in your bag when your stilettos start to hurt. I decided that I will skip that step and just wear them whenever I please!

Have a great rest of your weekend!!!

Amanda

Detail Shot Saturday: Leather and Laces

Leather Bag: TJMaxx, gift from Josh
Lace-up Leather Sandals: Family Thrift
It's hard to believe that last Saturday was warm enough for sandals. Two days later, I was playing in the snow! But last Saturday was warm and sunny, and I finally pulled out these comfy, handmade lace-up sandals. :)

The bag I've been sporting non-stop for weeks- it was my Valentine's present from Josh. :) I've decided to donate most of my thrifted bags, so I was looking for a nice everyday bag to take their place. The hubby picked this one because he thinks it looks awesome, too! Too funny.

Speaking of the thrifted bags, would anyone be interested in a bag giveaway? I was thinking about picking out some and giving away whichever the winner's choice is. Let me know if that sounds good. :) I have vintage Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Fossil, and quite a few more.

Well, I hope you have a great weekend! I'm planning on thrifting it up!!

Amanda

Pages from a Vintage Magazine: Modern Roses

1963 Modern Roses Magazine: Love of Jesus ($0.25)
I love colorful vintage books and magazines, and this one is no exception. :) What's better than pages and pages of pretty roses in red, pink, yellow, and lavender?

My favorite page of the magazine is the back cover, filled with 'tree roses'! I'm no gardener, but I'd love a couple of pink ones. :)

Happy Friday, everyone!!

Outfitted In: Snow Day Wear

Sweater, Boots: Thrifted; Cardigan: JCrew Warehouse Sale; Jeans: Burlington; Scarf: Target
The random winter storm we had Sunday night gave us a snowy Presidents Day Monday. :)  It was the best kind of snow, too: pretty for a couple days, and then completely melted! Today's high is supposed to be above 70 degrees!!

Anyway... This sweater was a recent thrift find, and I think it might be cashmere! The tags were all off when I thrifted it, but it is super soft and warm and lovely. :) I'm especially loving pastel colors with brights right now- the perfect combo for spring!

Happy Thursday, everyone. :)

Amanda

Our Smile Box :)

Here are the random contents of our smile box so far. :) I'll let you guess which things are Josh's and which are mine! (Well, the Play-Doh's definitely mine!)

I hope your week is going well. :) As for me, well, I've been using our smile box!

Thrifted Vintage: A Treasure Chest

Vintage Treasure Chest Jewelry Box: Goodwill Outlet (~$1)
I've been slowly collecting fun little items, in order to make a box of things that make me smile. The only problem, until Saturday, was that I hadn't actually found something to hold my little goodies. This is where the most epic jewelry box of all time comes in: a treasure chest-shaped one!!!

Without the pictured top tray, it is just the right size for the little happy treasures it now holds. :) I suppose I should take a picture of the contents, huh? I think I'll do that for tomorrow!

Have a great day- I know I'm going to try to. :)

Thrifted Vintage: Pin-tastic!

Flower Pin: Family Thrift ($4)
Letters Pin: Family Thrift ($0.99)
Cat Pin: Love of Jesus ($4)
While these vintage pins cost a little more than I'd usually spend, I just had to get them! The flower is pretty large, and will be a fun addition to many an outfit. :)

The middle pin was intriguing because I couldn't tell what it was supposed to spell out. (Is it 'cast'?) I'm choosing to look at it as a fancy 'A' and then a 'T', so that it's my initials. :)

The kitty, although Siamese, reminds me of Moxie because of her confident kitty pose! And those eyes- so fun!

Well, I'm off to enjoy Presidents Day by crunching through yesterday's snow and maybe getting some thrifting in. Have a good one!

Outfitted In: Ruffles and Butterflies

Cardigan, Shirt, Bolo Necklace, Sandals: All Thrifted; Jeans: Burlington; Bag: TJMaxx
Yesterday afternoon, I couldn't wait to go thrifting! I threw on my recently thrifted butterfly cardigan with some black staples (and sandals!), and I was out the door. :)

I had fun hitting my favorite spots, especially since I just got a new Android phone to tweet thrifting adventures with! Check out my Twitter if you haven't already. :) I must say, I can be pretty entertaining...

I hope your weekend has been lovely so far!

Detail Shot Saturday: Black Cat Love :)

Jason Wu for Target Shirt ($20)
While I'm a fan of Jason Wu (although I can't afford his regular line), I'm an even bigger fan of black cats! So I was super happy to be able to get the kitty-bedecked items from the Target collection. :)

Moxie could so be this cat for Halloween! Even though she has some brown spots, she bears a strong resemblance to Jason Wu's kitty. (Although she'd never let a scarf be tied around her...she'd take it off and play with it!)

Well folks, I'm off to work this morning, and then I'll hit the thrifts. I'm hoping to find some interesting pants, so we'll see how it goes!

Amanda

Thrifted Vintage: A Book of Stars

Vintage Stars Book: Goodwill Outlet ($0.25)
I've been really into space and stars and such lately. First, because it's interesting, but also because Josh and I just finished watching the seasons of Battlestar Galactica! While the planets on the show are mostly fictional, it is still interesting to think about everything that's out there in space. (Plus, that show is just the best!!)

This neat vintage book has such great illustrations, and it fit into my current interest in stars so well. :) There is almost nothing I enjoy more than flipping through a colorfully illustrated old book!

I hope you have a great Friday, everyone. :)

Retail/Thrifted: A Glass Elephant

Glass Elephant Paperweight: Goodwill Outlet ($1)
I keep an eye out for elephant things, because we have a friend who loves them. When I saw this little glass elephant at Goodwill Outlet, I had to get it for her! It's super cute, and at about a dollar, it was definitely a steal. :) I had a little bit of a hard time finding a price comparison, but I was finally able to dig up a similar glass elephant paperweight on tias.com (the internet antique shop, not the restaurant!).

Retail Price: $16.00 on Tias.com

Thrifted Price: $1.00 at Goodwill Outlet

Amount Saved: $15.00!

Not bad for such a cute little elephant!

Outfitted In: A Moto Jacket and a Prism

Shirt, Pendant, Jeans: All Thrifted; Boots: Gift; Sweater: F21; Jacket: Target; Bag: TJMaxx
This was Sunday's 'relax, estate sale shop, and chill' outfit. :) We went to a Mexican place with Josh's parents and sis for lunch, and just took it easy the rest of the day.

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day yesterday! We made the yummiest food, and Josh got me pink roses- my favorite. :)

Happy Heart Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! I thought I'd look up some of my heart-themed finds and DIY's for the occasion. :)

Josh and I are cooking ourselves a meal at home tonight, complete with steak, twice-baked potatoes, salad, and chocolate strawberries! Yum! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. :) Have a great day!!

Thrift Find: A Pirate Ship at Nighttime

Handpainted Pirate Ship on Black Velvet: Goodwill ($7)

Last Sunday, I went on a trip to my local Goodwill while Josh had to study. When I saw this awesome painting, I fell in love! I just think it's so cool.

I wasn't sure if Josh would be on the same page, so I texted him a picture of it, asking 'yay or nay?'. Luckily, he loved it too! It now has the prime spot above our couch, and I think it gives our apartment a homey feel. :)

Outfitted In: A Cat Smuggler :)

Sweater: Thrifted; Shirt: Jason Wu for Target; Jeans: Burlington; Shoes: Khol's; Bag: TJMaxx
All I was thinking all day was that it looked like I was smuggling a cat in my sweater! I don't think Moxie cat would ever be behaved enough to go along with me to the thrift stores, so this Jason Wu shirt is the next best thing. :)

Speaking of cats, these leopard print loafers are so great! I'd been searching for an affordable pair for months, and I was a little surprised to find them at Khol's! The best part? I had a gift card, so they only cost me six bucks. :) Almost thrift-store cheap!!

I hope you're having a great weekend so far. I'm off to enjoy some Battlestar Galactica with Josh!

Detail Shot Saturday: Star Bright

Hair Clip: Harajuku Mini for Target
Yesterday, I mentioned my love for hearts. Well, stars aren't far behind. :) This one especially, because it's big and bright and fun!

I like to think that I'm an old soul, but in some ways, I'm still pretty young. :) I love fun prints, and silly toys, and hair clips...but I also love reading more than I like movies, and I enjoy a nice quiet night in with my hubby instead of a loud night out.

Maybe it's just that I'm a little weird. :) I'm totally okay with that!

Thrifted Vintage: Hearts and Flowers

Vintage Scarf: Love of Jesus ($1)
I am quite enamored with hearts. Not just during this time of year, but always. So when I found this vintage scarf that is absolutely covered in them, I had to get it!

Something about hearts just makes me smile. :)

I hope you all have a great Friday! I can't wait for the weekend!!

Thrifted Vintage: Doe, a Deer

Vintage Deer Ornament: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
Out of a mess of vintage Christmas ornaments in the Goodwill bins, I spotted this green deer. I find it so charming that I think I'll keep it out all year long. :)

I could open an shop filled just with vintage ornaments such as this, I see so many at my local thrift haunts. Although I doubt, if that ever happened, that I'd just want to sell Christmas things!

Outfitted In: Black Cats and Leopard Print

Shirt: Thrifted; Jeans: Burlington; Jacket, Jason Wu Scarf: Target; Bag: TJMaxx; Loafers: Khols
Sunday was quite the day. Not only was it Super Bowl Sunday, it was Jason Wu-per Bowl Sunday! Known as by those less corny than I as the day the Jason Wu for Target collection came out. :)

We went to all of our local Targets before finally finding this cat print scarf, the cat print tote, and the cat print shirt. :) It is safe to say I am officially a cat lady.

Although the Jason Wu for Target things have been going for high prices on eBay, I think I'm going to keep my hard-won finds. :) This scarf is definitely my favorite, but I know I'll be sporting the tote and shirt quite a bit too!

Have a great Wednesday!

Retail/Thrifted: Fiesta!

Fiesta Gravy Boat: Love of Jesus ($4)
Josh and I have quite the collection of Fiesta dishes in all shapes and sizes. They are mostly from our wedding registry, but we've added a couple pieces since then. :)

When I saw this Fiesta piece at Love of Jesus for less than five bucks, I had to get it! It still had the tags on the bottom, too. :) It'll be perfect for gravy, (or, more likely, spaghetti sauce) and I love the buttery color!

Retail Price: $24.95 on Amazon

Thrifted Price: $4.00 at Love of Jesus

Amount Saved: $20.95!

I'd love to know if any of you use Fiesta dishes too!

Thrifted Vintage: Game Boy Love :)

Original Game Boy, 7 games, and magnifier (not shown): Goodwill ($12)
My little brother (Hey Andrew!) had one of these original Game Boys when we were growing up. :) I would borrow it and play Tetris for hours on end! And now, I can do that again!!!

This awesome-condition Game Boy came with 7 games (one was in it when I took the picture) and the magnifier. All for twelve bucks! I was pretty darn stoked. :)

The guy at the Goodwill checkout seemed pretty impressed that a chick was buying it for herself. I think he secretly wanted it too, though!

Have a great day. :)

Outfitted In: Pops of Brights!

Shirt, Scarf: Target Clearance; Hair Pin: Harajuku Mini for Target; Jeans: Burlington; Flats: eBay; Bag: gift; Cardigan: JCrew Warehouse Sale
This outfit, although it consists of some oft-worn items, is a little bit of a departure from my normal outfits. Why? Other than the fact that nothing is thrifted, (a first, I think) I've decided to embrace bright colors! And wear more than one at once!

Surprisingly, I'm really liking them. Though I'm still a black-blue-mustard person, I think these brightly colored accessories will breathe some new life into my wardrobe. :)

Also, this awesome bag with bright blue piping was an early Valentine's gift from Josh. I think, if he were the man-bag type, that his would look a lot like this one. :)

I hope your weekend is going well! I'm ready for some Target shopping and then the Super Bowl!!

Detail Shot Saturday: A Fish and a Fly

Necklace: Thrifted; Pin: JCrew Warehouse Sale
I love this fish necklace so, so much! Not only is it articulated, but it's my favorite colors. :) I get super happy over silly things like this.

Speaking of silly things, I decided to wear a bug pin near the mouth of the fish, to look like the fish was trying to eat it! Yup, I know. :)

Well folks, I'm off to enjoy my weekend to the absolute fullest! I hope you do, too!

Thrift Find: A Fierce Tiger

Tiger Oven Mitt ($0.50): Family Thrift
I've been on the hunt for one of these cool animal oven mitts for awhile, so I was excited to find this brand new one! There's something exciting about ordinary items getting a unique makeover. :)

My favorite part is the fierce teeth that appear when you open it's 'mouth'. Maybe I'll look forward to baking with this little guy. :)

Always,
Amanda

PS: Happy Birthday (yesterday) to the best Dad ever!! Love you!!

Outfitted In: Forest and Mustard

Shirt, Shoes, Bag: Thrifted; Cardigan, Pin: JCrew Warehouse Sale; Necklace: JCrew
This was Sunday's outfit, for a day of relaxing, antiquing, and eating yummy food. :) We found a couple cool gifts at the antique mall... all the things I liked for myself were way overpriced. Don't you hate that? I suppose when you're used to thrift prices, antique malls can seem super expensive!

One of the things I was on the lookout for was another Bakelite bangle bracelet. I'd love to build up a collection of them, but I only have two so far. It'd be cool to be able to rock an armful of them. :)

I hope your week is going well so far! I'm counting down until the weekend myself. We're getting close!

Thrifted DIY: Glitter Bomb Shoes

This past weekend, I started brainstorming ideas for my thrifted Mod Podge and chunky gold glitter. The first thing I thought of was one of my favorite DIY blogs Stars for Streetlights! She was on a glitter kick a while back, and I knew I could use her tips to glitterfy some wingtips. :)

For this simple DIY, all you need is Mod Podge, chunky glitter, and a paintbrush. (Well, and something to glitterfy!)

1. Fill a throwaway container half-full with the Mod Podge and the rest of the way full with glitter.
2. Mix and paint the mixture where you'd like it. (I would advise doing this outdoors so that your apartment/house isn't filled with glitter and a lingering smell...)
3. Let dry for a couple of hours outside, and repeat process if it isn't glittery enough!

Before:

After:

While I liked these oxfords before, I love them now! The glitter makes them just special enough to elevate any outfit. :)

Amanda
