Happy Halloween!!!

Wichita from Zombieland Costume: Jacket, Target; Jeans, Burlington; Boots, Thrifted; Plastic Shotgun, Dollar Tree
The hubby and I had such a fun time on Saturday night dressing up as our favorite characters from the movie Zombieland. I was 'Wichita', played in the movie by Emma Stone. Here is my Pinterest board I used for costume ideas. :)

The hubby was Tallahassee, played by Woody Harrelson. Josh couldn't stop quoting from the movie all the way to the Halloween party! Ie: "You wanna feel how hard I can punch?" Ah, good times. Here's the hubby in his best Tallahassee pose:

Tallahassee Costume: Jacket, Burlington; Shirt, Target; Sunglasses, F21; Jeans, Shoes, Leg Holster, Hat, Necklace: All Thrifted
I did a little better with the hubby's costume: a lot of the items are ones I thrifted for super-cheap! It was so much fun finding just the right things. :)

The Halloween party we went to was a Richmond blogger meetup, which was really fun! It was great to meet some new people, and to see Emily and her hubby again. :) Here's she and I in our costumes (she was so cute as Velma!):

Well, that's about all! Have a happy and safe Halloween, everyone. :)

Outfitted In: Classics and Color

Trench, F21; Jeans, Burlington; Green Flats, Plato's Closet; Gold Shirt and Bag: Thrifted
Yesterday was super rainy and cold- it was like we fast-forwarded to Winter! But I was (mostly) warm and cozy in my trench and flats. :)

Also, I cut some bangs into my hair yesterday morning. A very last-minute decision, but I like them! Plus, they work really well with my Halloween costume. :) (Which you'll see/ hear about tomorrow!)

I found some cute vintage things and a couple Christmas gifts while thrifting yesterday. I'm almost finished with my shopping!

Detail Shot Saturday: Sparkly, Black, and Gold

Sparkly Black Ruffle Shirt, Salvation Army; Fringed Necklace, DIY (Vintage Earring and Leather Cord)
I love this detail shot because you can see the sparkliness and the texture of my new favorite shirt!

Also a new favorite is this DIY necklace. It was super simple (the only kind of DIY I do!), with just a vintage earring and leather cord. :)

Well, I'm off to thrift and have a fun day despite the chilly/rainy weather! Yay for weekends!!!

Thrift Finds: Bowlers and Cat Eyes

Bowler Hat, Goodwill Outlet ($0.50); Cat Eye Sunnies, Good Samaritan ($0.50)
And for the final finds of this past weekend, the accessories! I snagged this vintage bowler hat from Goodwill Outlet, where hats are only fifty cents. :) I love that it matches my navy blue one- they look so cute together by my desk.

The cat eye sunnies are the ones from the last outfit post. They are actually of great quality, with polarized lenses and everything! And, I mean, who can resist red 80s sunglasses with a gold accent? (For fifty cents, not me!!)

I hope you have a great Friday. :) I am ready for the weekend, and I actually have some fun plans!

Thrifted DIY: Put a Heart on It :)

Thrifted Flats, Goodwill Outlet ($2)
I wasn't so great at taking step-by-step photos of this thrifted DIY! But it was super-duper easy. :)

I just cut a heart-shaped piece out of cardboard and traced the shape onto each shoe, then filled them in with pink paint. I love any DIY that is easy and fast!

I'm definitely of the mindset that putting a heart on something (anything, really) makes it better. :)

Outfitted In: Red and Animals

Animals Shirt, Cardigan, Jeans, Vintage Coach Bag, Vintage Cat Eye Sunnies, Wooden Necklace, Flats: All Thrifted
I love wearing outfits that are completely thrifted!  Showing the fun outfits you can put together with thrift store finds is one of my favorite things. Plus, the whole outfit cost less than $20. :)

These are all old favorites, excepting my newly thrifted vintage cat eye sunnies! They're red with gold- totally 80s and fun. :)

Well, that's about all for today! I'm counting down the days until the weekend!!!

Thrift Find: A Return to Childhood

Vintage Winnie the Pooh (<$1)
There are certain characters that we all grew up with, and Winnie the Pooh is definitely a popular one. I remember seeing him on TV when I was younger, then seeing the Tigger Movie in the theater with my friends in middle school. :)

My memories of Pooh, coupled with my love of old stuffed animals, would not let me leave this behind! And he looks so cute sitting next to my vintage quilted bear in our apartment- I'll have to take a photo sometime. :)

Are there any childhood characters that you would love to find at the thrifts?

Thrift Finds: Cherry Red Samsonite

Vintage Samsonite Train Case: Good Samaritan ($4)
I went through a bit of a vintage train case phase a couple years ago, and I have a collection of awesome ones to show for it. We're talking dark green, burgundy, grey, teal, blue...

I haven't gotten one for a pretty long time, but when I saw this cherry red beauty for four bucks I had to get it! It's Samsonite (my personal favorite) and it's clean, a double-plus in my book. :)

A couple other vintage goodies came home with me this weekend too! I have to say, I'm missing the weekend already!

Outfitted In: Ruffles and Fringe

Ruffle Shirt, Fringe Necklace, Vintage Coach Bag, Leopard Flats: All Thrifted; Jeans, Burlington
I thrifted this ruffled shirt at Salvation Army the other day, and I love it! It has a lot of texture, which is fun for an otherwise basic black shirt. :)

The necklace actually started out as an earring in a bag of broken jewelry, which I thrifted for $1.50! I just detached the ear hook and strung it with leather cord. So easy-peasy that I can't even really call it DIY. :)

Yup, and I'm definitely still loving the leopard print flats. They just seem to go with everything!

I hope you're having a great weekend. I'm ready to relax all day today!

Detail Shot Saturday: Holey Shirt!

Floral Shirt, Mustard Sweater, Vintage Bolo: All Thrifted
So, here's a close-up of my new fave mustard-hued clothing item. I love that the holey texture of this coverup-turned-sweater lets whatever is beneath show through. :)

Speaking of love, how cool is the stone on my bolo? Crazy patterns, right?! Grammy and I thrifted it in Pensacola, where I seemed to hit the jewelry jackpot! Josh and I are headed back there for Christmas, and I can't wait to drag my whole family to the thrifts with me. :) (Most of them like to thrift...)

Well, I'm off to work this morning, and then I'll head to G.O.! Afternoon, please come soon...

Estate Sale Treasure: Pretty Fabric and a Vintage Basket

Vintage Fabric ($1); Vintage Basket Purse ($2)
Here are the other finds from last Sunday's estate sale. :) We really did come home with a lot of vintage treasure!

The fabric reminds me of Marimekko, which I'm pretty sure I first saw in Domino Magazine a few years ago. (I miss you, Domino!!) This section of fabric is the perfect size to pretty up my desk a bit.

The wacky basket purse is decoupaged with all sorts of crazy things: a penny, tiny playing cards, a key, a license plate... But what drew me to it was the black cat on the front. :) That, and the 'Holy Mackerel!'.

I'm often reminded that you never know what you'll find on thrifty adventures. I don't think I'd have it any other way!

Outfitted In: Leather and Leopard

Shirt, Necklace, Vintage Coach Bag, Leopard Print Flats: All Thrifted; Sweater: Gift; Jeans, Burlington
This was Sunday's estate sale hunting outfit. :) I couldn't wait to sport my newly thrifted leopard print flats! They're definitely becoming a new favorite.

Speaking of favorites, I am really loving this thrifted necklace! The hot pink hue and the short length make it a go-to last minute addition to outfits. :)

I don't think I've mentioned it, but I dyed my hair a darker warm brown and I like it a lot! Sunday was a surprisingly good hair day, too. :) (I actually woke up with my hair looking like this, which never happens! It's usually a sort of tangled mess.)

Anyway, I get off work early today! I am super excited to go to the thrifts on a Thursday afternoon. :)

Estate Sale Treasure: Stripes, Plaid, Dots!

Vintage Ties ($0.25 each); Vintage Wool Blanket ($5); Vintage Dotted Scarves ($0.25 each)
I was so excited about this past Sunday's estate sale! It was stuffed full of fun vintage things. :)

The ties are for a DIY I plan on doing soon, the wool blanket is perfect for the cool weather coming up, and I never pass up dotted scarves!

Have a great day. :)

Thrift Finds: Leopard Print Flats!

Leopard Print Flats, Goodwill ($4)
Ever since my thrifted leopard print loafers bit the dust in May, I've been on the lookout for a replacement pair. The problem is that I hate to pay more than a couple bucks on a pair of shoes. (I know, I'm really spoiled by my inexpensively awesome thrift stores!)

Well, my local Goodwill came to the rescue this past Saturday! I spotted these flats from across the store, and I didn't expect them to be in my size. But they fit perfectly, and I've already gotten some wear out of them. :)

Do you have leopard print shoes? I'd love to hear what you pair them with!

Thrift Finds: Awesome Vintage Books!

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn & The Swiss Family Robinson: Love of Jesus Thrift ($3)
I love, love, love old books! Seriously. My fascination with them began way before I started blogging, and I think I'll always love them. :)

There's just something so special about a book with history. The neat typography, the worn pages, the fancy covers- what's not to love?

Naturally, when they were having a sale on the vintage books at Love of Jesus this past weekend, I had to pick out a couple. Swiss Family Robinson is a great story, but I admit I bought this one mainly for the cover art! A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is a longtime favorite that I picked out so I can read it again. :)

I hope you all have a great Monday! I had such a nice, relaxing weekend that I wish it hadn't ended so soon!

Outfitted In: Floral, Mustard, Gold and Coach

Shirt, Sweater, Vintage Coach Bag, Bolo Necklace, DIY'd TOMS: All Thrifted; Jeans, Burlington
My thrifted swim cover-up continues to make the perfect Fall sweater! I just can't get enough of it. :) I think it and my trusty thrifted floral shirt are a perfect match, too.

Also of note: I was finally able to wear my thrifted TOMS that I DIY'd this past week. Let me say, they are so much easier to wear as golden shoes than they were as blue and green dotted ones! So exciting, because they are super comfortable.

Last (but of course not least) I was cleaning the other night, and I found this vintage Coach bag I thrifted awhile ago! I am excited to have found it, because it's a very Fall-Winter type bag. And the Coach vintage reissue bags (upwards of $250) have been popping up all over the magazines and blogs! And they look just like my $2 vintage one! Score. :)

Detail Shot Saturday: Itty Bitty Kitty Ears

Cat Ring, etsy ($9.99)
I love this kitty ring I scored on etsy! It's adorable, especially for the price. :) (And it shipped super-quick, which is always a plus with online shopping!)

The cat silhouette is reminiscent of my kitty Moxie, which is a lovely reminder during a long day.

I don't know about you, but I am excited for the weekend! We're supposed to have great weather here in Richmond, and I plan on enjoying it to the fullest!!!

Thrifted DIY: Golden Toms

My "before" Toms were super-comfy thrifted awesomeness. But they were green and blue dotted. No matter what I paired them with, they just didn't feel right. I'd been searching for gold ones for quite awhile, so it hit me...it was Thrifted DIY Time!!!!

1) Gather your Toms or other canvas shoes:

2) Gather your supplies, ie: golden paint, sponge brushes:

 3) Start applying golden paint to shoes. With patterns, make sure you do multiple layers:

 4) Let your shoes dry for a couple of hours, and voila! New, golden kicks:

Have a great Friday!!!!

Estate Sale Treasure: A Stetson Boater

Vintage Stetson Hat, Estate Sale ($2.50)
I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this vintage boater hat at the estate sale we went to last Sunday. When I saw that it was $2.50 and a Stetson, I went straight to the checkout before they could change their minds on the price!

As soon as we got home that evening, I searched online for a similar one to compare prices, and here's one I found on etsy. It's, um, $135. One hundred thirty-five dollars. What do you say? Deal of the week or what!? :)

Outfitted In: Hawaii 5-0

Shirt, Bag, Necklace: All Thrifted; Jeans, Burlington; Stubbs & Wootton Loafers, eBay
This past Sunday, we went to my father-in-law's Hawaii 5-0 themed birthday party and to an estate sale. :) I think this outfit fit the bill for both, and it was super-comfy to boot!

I have to say just how much I'm loving my Stubbs & Wootton loafers. It took me a long time to find ones I could afford (these were a mere $13 on eBay!), but it was well worth the wait! Now, if I could just find some affordable leopard print ones...

Thrifted, Gifted: PBR

PBR Hat, Goodwill Outlet ($0.50)
The hubby and I have a fond memory involving Pabst Blue Ribbon. Quite odd, but let me explain! While on our honeymoon in Tybee Island, Georgia, we ate dinner at a cute pizza place on the beach. The hubby wanted a beer with his pizza, but they didn't have any on tap since it was the off-season. "But," said the owner, "We have some cans of PBR if you want one for free!"

The hubby happily accepted the free beer (which he said was 'like the best beer...of the 1800s!'), and I took a cute photo of him with it. Whenever we see PBR, we both smile and think back to our lovely, laid-back honeymoon, although the hubby won't drink Pabst Blue Ribbon again! (And neither will I, although I don't like any alcohol. :))

Anyway...all this to explain why, when I saw this hat at Goodwill Outlet this past weekend, I had to get it for the hubby. When I gave it to him, he shook his head and laughed. Just what I was going for. :)

Thrift Finds: The Prettiest Laptop Case

Vera Bradley Laptop Case, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)
I've had the darndest time finding a big enough laptop case for my larger laptop. So when I found this cute one in the Goodwill bins, I had to get it!

The best part? The checkout lady charged me by the pound since it wasn't a purse! Nothing better than finding just what you're looking for. Except finding it for less than a buck. Yup, that's awesome.

Have a great day!

Outfitted In: Mustard and Tan

Mustard Sweater, Shirt, Bag, Aviators: All Thrifted; Stubbs & Wootton Loafers: eBay; Vintage Fish Necklace: Estate Sale
This was the perfect outfit for yesterday's weather. :) Luckily, I was right about this swim cover-up being perfect as a Fall sweater! It was just the right amount of coverage without getting too hot in the afternoon. I look forward to pairing this new 'sweater' with other tops in my closet. :)

Also, I have to say how much I'm loving these aviators. They fit so well on my little nose (I have trouble with some sunnies slipping off), and the lenses are great. :) It's awesome finding good-quality sunglasses at the thrift store for five bucks!

Detail Shot Saturday: Black Magic

Chain Link Bracelet, DIY; Bangle, Thrifted
I was so excited to find these black plastic chain links at Michaels a couple weeks ago. For those of us who can't wear metal, chain links are pretty much off-limits. With an easy DIY, I was able to link these together (the set came with links that blend right in) and make a necklace/ bracelet!

I love how my DIY bracelet looks with my black bangle I thrifted from Goodwill Outlet. I mean, it is October- I think if there's a month to sport black with pale skin, it's this one. :)

I hope you all have a great weekend! I'm feeling much better today, thanks to some medicine and a good night's sleep. I'm ready to take on the long weekend, for sure!

Thrift Finds: The Bangles

Bangles, Love of Jesus Thrift ($1.50 for all)
One last find from last weekend's thrifting: a trio of cute bangle bracelets! I scored these at Love of Jesus Thrift for 50 cents each- a total bargain. :)

The gold one is fun, the pink one is the same shape as my two bakelite bracelets, and the red one is very ladybug-like. A whole lot of cute for a buck fifty!

That's about all I have for today. I seem to have come down with a sinus/head cold, and it's really sapping my energy. Here's to hoping today goes by fast!!

Thrift Find: Not Quite Chanel

Vintage Leather Chain-link Bag, Goodwill Outlet ($2)
I was glad to find this Chanel-like bag at Goodwill Outlet this past weekend. :) I love that it's made of good-quality leather and seems like it'll last, unlike many pleather Chanel copies. (And goodness knows that I'll never be able to afford a real one...)

The best part is that it's the perfect size for thrifting and estate sale hunting! Nothing beats a good cross-body bag for digging through things. :)

Outfitted In: Green and Blue, and Aviators

Cardigan, Jeans, Loafers, Bag, Aviators, Necklace: All Thrifted; Shirt, Target Clearance
This cardigan was thrifted right at the end of Spring, and I only got to wear it once before it got too warm outside. With the cooler weather finally back, I was glad to dig it out of the back of my closet again. :)

This bag is a recent Goodwill Outlet find, and it reminds me of a classic Chanel bag. :) I'll have a better photo of it tomorrow!

Thrift Finds: Pandas and Ladybugs

Vintage Panda Planters, Goodwill Outlet (<$1); Ladybug Pin, Love of Jesus, ($1)
Animal finds are usually my favorites. This is especially true when I thrift animal jewelry or home decor! I get overly excited about things like that. :)

There's something about being able to pull awesome panda planters out of a bin full of junk that makes me smile really big! I plan on putting a couple of hardy little plants in them. :) (One's for me, and one's for my sis-in-law.)

The ladybug pin was something I grabbed for my mother-in-law, because she's a big fan of ladybugs. Whenever I find anything ladybuggy, I get it for her. :)

I hope you all have a great day! I, for one, hope today's a good one!

Thrift Finds: Aviators and Mustard

Aviators, Mustard Yellow Top: Love of Jesus Thrift ($6 for both)
While I didn't score big time at Goodwill Outlet this week, I was pretty darn lucky at Love of Jesus Thrift. :) I haven't been going there every week, so there were plenty of new things to look at!

I was drawn right over to this long-sleeve top because of the awesome mustard yellow of it. While I think it's actually meant to be a swim cover-up, it works great as a lightweight layer over another shirt. :) I can see it getting a lot of wear this Fall- I just love it!

The aviators were a last-minute find (they keep items such as jewelry and sunglasses at the register), but I'm glad I spotted them! They don't have a brand name, but the lenses are quality ones, and I love their look. :)

Well, I suppose that's all for today. I hope your day is a great one!

Outfitted In: Zig Zags and Pink

Necklace, Flats, Bag, Bracelet: All Thrifted; Sweater, Missoni for Target; Shirt, F21
Ahhhh. This 60-something weather is just perfection- ideal for light layers and warm apple cider. Hello, October. I think I love you.

Speaking of the weather, this outfit was just right for yesterday's. I was all comfy and cozy while drifting in and out of a couple thrifts, finding little treasures. :)

Another fun thing- I ran into Sarah of Five Camels at Goodwill Outlet! She's a real sweetheart, and I just love her blog, so it was great to say hi in person again. :) (We ran into each other at G.O. last year too!)

I hope you all are having a nice, relaxing day. That is my plan, for sure!

Detail Shot Saturday: A Bit of Missoni

Missoni for Target Flats
Man, did any of you try to go to Target the day the Missoni collection came out? I didn't go that morning, but I heard it was madness! At our local Target, there was apparently a huge line waiting for the store to open, and a mad rush once it did. By the time I made it there that evening, there was barely anything left!

The funny thing is, at least at our Target, they've restocked a little bit. And pretty much all the things that I really wanted, I was able to get these past few weeks. :)

These flats were near the top of my list. My thoughts? The bottoms are a bit slippery until you wear them in, but otherwise they are great. :)

I hope you have a great Saturday! I'm super glad for the weekend!!

Always,
Amanda
