Thrift Finds: Mostly Harmless

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Book Five: Goodwill Outlet ($0.25)

I recently read all of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books on my Kindle, and now I'm searching for them in printed form! I have the first and the fifth books now, only a couple more to go. :)

If you haven't read these books, I highly recommend them! They are hilarious and fun. :)

Thrift Finds: Cat Book!

Cat Book: Goodwill Outlet ($0.50)

I mostly just took #thriftspotting pictures at the thrifts this weekend, but I had to get this hilariously true cat book!

It's so funny to me that I have a cat now, since I was terrified of them when I was younger. One thing I've learned since getting Moxie is that cats are super entertaining to watch. :)
While there are a bunch of funny cat books out there, this one is definitely one of the funniest I've seen!

Thrift Finds: Summer Reading :)

Novel: Family Thrift ($0.99)

While I finish up all of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books on my Kindle, I'm also reading this thrifted brick of a book. :)

It is kind of strange so far, but I have lots of pages left to go! I have to say that I'm finding the Hitchhiker's books much more interesting. :) Maybe this is one of those books that get better once you're halfway through?

Happy Friday!

Amanda

Thrifted Vintage: Valley of the Dolls

Vintage Valley of the Dolls Book: Goodwill Outlet ($1)

This book has been on my thrift list for a long while. I already read it on my Kindle, but it's mostly the cover art and Pepto-colored book jacket that I like. :)

In other news, it looks like I have another sinus infection. I swear, my sinuses hate Virginia. I spent all of yesterday curled up in a ball in bed, and now I'm headed off to work. Wish me luck in getting through this week!

Thrift Find: American Junk

American Junk: Goodwill Outlet ($1)

I've seen this book at antique stores before, but it's always way overpriced! We're talking about $25 or so! Let's just say I would rather wait and pay a buck. :)

I hope everyone's week has been great! I can't wait to thrift like crazy this weekend!!

Thrift Finds: Tolkien Books!

J.R.R. Tolkien Book Set: Goodwill Outlet ($0.50)

As a fan of The Hobbit, which my dad got for me when I was 12, I was excited to find this set of J.R.R. Tolkien books!

For less than a buck, this set of my original favorite and the Lord of the Rings trilogy was quite a find. :) I'm looking forward to re-reading the books-  fitting with The Hobbit coming out in movie form!

I hope you had a great weekend. :) Mine was long and fun, and I wish it wasn't over!

Thrift Find: Occasions by Kate Spade

Occasions by Kate Spade: Goodwill Outlet ($0.50)
I gravitated toward this book at first because of the interesting cover. But when I opened it, I was sold! It's both well-written and pretty, packed with advice for different occasions and illustrations to inspire.

And it was fifty cents!

I had to share some of the inside pages, which I found charming and reminiscent of Domino Magazine. (Best magazine ever.) Although my favorite thing about the book, despite the great content, remains the unique cover. :)

Thrift Finds: Awesome Vintage Books!

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn & The Swiss Family Robinson: Love of Jesus Thrift ($3)
I love, love, love old books! Seriously. My fascination with them began way before I started blogging, and I think I'll always love them. :)

There's just something so special about a book with history. The neat typography, the worn pages, the fancy covers- what's not to love?

Naturally, when they were having a sale on the vintage books at Love of Jesus this past weekend, I had to pick out a couple. Swiss Family Robinson is a great story, but I admit I bought this one mainly for the cover art! A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is a longtime favorite that I picked out so I can read it again. :)

I hope you all have a great Monday! I had such a nice, relaxing weekend that I wish it hadn't ended so soon!

Amanda

War of the Worlds

Vintage War of the Worlds, Estate Sale; ($0.25)
I must admit that I never saw the movie War of the Worlds... and that this old book appealed to me mostly because of the awesome cover! While I am an avid reader (I go through about 3 books a week), I haven't read this yet either, but I plan to.

Usually with older books, I am drawn to the ones that look the coolest- and what's cooler than this crazy scene?

Do you all do the same, or do you pick out books like a normal person (ie: by their content!)?

Always,
Amanda
