Afterthoughts Alien Candle: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)

Does anyone remember when Claire's was Afterthoughts back in the '90s? It was way more awesome than modern-day Claire's (or maybe it was just the '90s themselves that were cool?). Anyway, it was my fave store back when I was 12. :)

So when I found this awesome alien candle in the Goodwill bins and saw the Afterthoughts sticker on the back, I had to get this little piece of my pre-teen years!

The best part? He'll look pretty crazy when his face starts to melt off. :) Yay candles!

Thrifted DIY: Kitty Pins :)

 

 Step One: Gather supplies. You'll need: felt/ wool/ leather/ etc. to cut the design out of; scissors; tacky glue; and a box of latching pins with a flat back to glue the design to. (I thrifted the thick felt, and it worked just as well as the leather.)

 

 Step Two: Cut out design. I traced on the back of the felt/leather and then cut it out.

 

Step Three: Glue your design to the pin. 

Step Four: Let your pin dry for at least 30 minutes before wearing it!

Above are some of the silly designs I made this weekend. :) I love the kitty ones the most, but I'm also pretty fond of the hearts and letter ones! Plus, the silly huge googly eye ones make me smile!

Thrifted Vintage: Santa Loves Cats!

Vintage Stocking: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)

While I know it is a long time until next Christmas, I couldn't help getting this vintage stocking for Moxie! How adorable is it!?! I especially love the little cats at the top, which I didn't even notice until I got it home. :)

Like I said yesterday, I came up pretty empty-handed this weekend, but I do have a couple more things to share. And then I leave for Florida on Friday for a long weekend! I can't wait to be in Pensacola with my mom, aunts and uncles and cousins, and grandparents! :) I'm pretty psyched!

So this might be a pretty quiet week/ weekend here on the blog, but I'm sure I'll have plenty to make up for it next week. :) Have a great Monday, everyone!

Outfitted In: Black + Red

This was yesterday's simple thrifting outfit, for a day searching for goodies in the Goodwill bins and the thrift store shelves. It was supposed to be a warm, sunny day...but it was very foggy and cool instead. At least it wasn't freezing!

I found a couple cool things yesterday, but not much. I was looking for a round cross-body bag like one I spotted recently at TJMaxx, but I came up empty-handed. I did find a cool sunglasses case, though. :)

Detail Shot Saturday: Leather Kitty

Leather Kitty Pin: DIY

When I saw some leather scraps at Michael's a couple weeks ago, I had to get them! They are perfect for my DIY cat pins! I especially love this black one- but I am a bit biased toward black and tortie cats because my Moxie cat. :)

It's the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited to just chill out and thrift and finish packing this weekend. :) It'll be great!

Thrift Finds: JanSport :)

90s Backpack: Love of Jesus ($2)

I kind of have a backpack obsession. They are the perfect thing for travel, they are comfy, and they remind me of my childhood. :)

So when I found this JanSport for two bucks in my favorite color, with the cool leather bottom, I had to get it! It was perfect timing, too, as I'm going on a trip soon!!

Insta-Thursday #29

Happy Thursday, folks! For me, this week was full of: silly DIY projects (like a cat ear headband), antique shopping, scoring a cool Charlie Chaplin book and an awesome 1970 Penney's catalog, snapping photos of all the things I'd love to get from said catalog, starting to pack for my Pensacola trip, watching my kitty sleep, and sporting tons of DIY leather cat pins whilst looking like a ghost. :)
