Thrifted DIY: A Halloween Ginger Spice Dress!

Materials Needed:

* Blue Dress

* Duck Tape

* Red and White Paint

* Paintbrush

* Something to put inside the dress so paint doesn't bleed through

 

 

Step One: Duck Tape the shape you want to paint inside of.

 

 

Step Two: Paint inside of the duck tape in the corresponding colors.

 

 

Step Three: Let paint dry overnight, leaving the tape in place.

 

 

Step Four: Take the tape off, and touch up any spots that need it. Let dry. Done!

 

 Check out my DIY'd Ginger Spice dress! :) Isn't it awesome? My co-workers and I are going to be the Spice Girls today for Halloween, and it'll be so cool!

I can't wait to show you guys the pictures tomorrow! :) Let's just say, I'm going to look a little different!

Outfitted In: Mustaches and Tigers and Kitties, Oh My!

This was Sunday's outfit, for a day of cutting the hubby's hair and hanging out with the in-laws. :) I'm not sure what my favorite thing about this outfit is, because I love the DIY sweatshirt SO MUCH, and the wooden cat purse and mustache shoes are just plain awesome!

Rugged Wearhouse, a sort-of TJMaxx-like place here in Richmond, is definitely one of the things I'll miss about this city.

Something else I'll miss? Hanging with my awesome co-workers, who threw me a surprise going-away party after work yesterday! With balloons and everything!! They are the best. :)

Thrift Find: An Awesome Leather Tote!

Cynthia Rowley Leather Purse: Goodwill Outlet ($3)

I sold most of my purses at the garage sale we had the other weekend, so I found myself lacking a great leather tote. :) Of course, when I spotted this leather one in the Goodwill bins, I had to snatch it up!

I love the snakeskin print on it, and it's super roomy and awesome. :) I had such great luck at the thrifts this past weekend that I don't think I'll be able to thrift anything else before we move!

I think I'll be at least doing one more trip to Goodwill Outlet, though, because I'll miss it when we leave. It's just so randomly awesome!

Thrifted Vintage: Snack Bowls!

Vintage Snack Bowls: Goodwill Outlet (<$1)

I love the awesome retro look of these snack bowls I found in the Goodwill bins this past weekend. I liked them enough to actually get them, even though I had to promptly pack them away!

The pop of orange on the inside of the bowls is my favorite part, aside from the awesome lettering. :)

This was yesterday's thrifting outfit. :) I actually found a couple awesome things to share with you guys this week! Of course, I didn't find anything on my thrift list, but oh well!

Can I just say how much I love these panther shoes? They are super-awesome and worth every penny of the $9.99 I spent on them at Rugged Wearhouse! Man, I'm going to miss that store! It's like a cheaper, more random TJMaxx, and they don't have them where we're moving.

 Here are some of the cool things I spotted at the last estate sale we went to! We got a cool radio for my father-in-law for his birthday, but we left the rest of this awesome stuff behind. I can't wait until we're furnishing a whole house someday- it will be so fun!!

This was Sunday's yard sale outfit, which I also accessorized with my camp blanket wrapped around me and antibiotics in my tummy. IE: I was sick!

I'm almost over my being-in-the-rain-all-holiday-weekend sickness now, finally! Coughing up nasty stuff is not my idea of fun!

Antique Shop Finds: More Jadeite :)

I was on a roll finding Jadeite for a while there! This dish I scored at the same antique shop that I found my leather tiger!

Everything in the booth this was in was on sale, too. :) That's pretty much the only time I buy something at an antique shop- when it is on sale!

Thrifted DIY: Tiger Heart Sweatshirt!

Tiger Heart Sweatshirt: DIY

First off, yesterday's yard sale was an almost complete bust! Oh well- you win some, you lose some, right? We donated what didn't sell to Goodwill, so it's all good. :)
On a brighter note, here is my latest thrifted DIY: an awesome sweatshirt! I found the iron-on tiger on etsy for a couple bucks, the plain sweatshirt at Goodwill, and the heart patches for $2 at JoAnn's. So, it cost about $5 for this DIY.

It was a little time-consuming, due to the fact that I accidently got sew-on heart patches instead of iron-on, but at least they won't fall off!

I know the design is a little weird, but it's what I popped into my head when I saw the heart patches. :)

This was yesterday's outfit, for an afternoon of quick thrifting, lunch, and getting ready for today's yard sale. :) I am still sick, but I'm starting to feel better!

Oh, and don't mind the pinned-up bangs- I was taking a short bang vacation for awhile, but they will soon be back! (AKA: I have to trim them, and I haven't feel like doing it in the midst of my sickness haze...)

The Year of the Piñata

So, I'm sick! I guess that's no surprise considering I spent the past weekend in the rain. I had to stay home from work yesterday, but I'm working this morning. I went to the doctor and got some meds, so hopefully, I'll feel better soon!

Anyway, I thought I would share our Year of the Piñata photo today, since we finished our year of piñata-ing with my father-in-law's birthday during our camping trip. :)

I personally liked my unicorn the best, but I guess I'm a little biased! I DIY'd the pineapple one for my sis-in-law, so that's my second fave!

Yard Sale Thoughts :)

 I'd advise maybe not having a yard sale in the rain. The good news was that lots of people still showed up and we sold a bunch! But, it was super wet and, well, it kind of rained on our parade!

We're having a final yard sale this Sunday from 10am to 2pm to try and sell everything that either we didn't want to bring out in rain or that we hadn't had time to bring out before! :) We have lots of cool stuff, so tell your Richmond friends to stop by! Camping in the Rain :)

 Here are a couple photos I took on my camera while we were camping this weekend. :) It was pretty, but it was so, so wet!

I did enjoy seeing the lake and the half-turned leaves, and I was glad for extra tarps when our tent started leaking. :)

Tomorrow, I'll have some photos of our garage sale, and then it'll be back to camping stuff for the week! Don't worry, thrift-lovers, I'll be back to normal posts next week. :)

Campers!

We got back from camping yesterday afternoon. It was super fun, despite the never-ending rain! We had s'mores, hung out by the campfire, went on a pontoon boat, ate good food, celebrated my father-in-law's birthday, and sported bandannas like nobody's business!

I'll have some more camping photos this week, as well as some Instagram photos from our garage sale! It rained throughout the whole sale, too, but we sold a lot! We are going to have another sale on Sunday- hopefully it doesn't rain, and we can get rid of the rest of the stuff we need to sell. :)
