Outfitted In: A Touch of Tomboy. A Dash of Red.

Shirt, Jeans, Oxford Flats, Necklace, Bracelet: All Thrifted; Bag, etsy
I grew up a complete tomboy. I was the girl who was usually playing sports with the guys instead of playing with girlie things. I was the girl who always wore pants, because in pants you are ready for any adventure.

Today, I have somewhat embraced my girlie side. I (sometimes) wear lipstick, I carry a purse, and I love anything floral. One thing I've never embraced, though, is wearing skirts or dresses. They just don't suit me- I am a million times more comfortable in pants!

So, even though every outfit I wear has a touch of tomboy, I think this outfit has just the right amount. This outfit felt very 'me'. Yes, even being a Canadian tuxedo. With a touch of red. :)

Have a great rest of your weekend!!

Amanda

Detail Shot Saturday: A Gifted Gourd :)

Handmade Gourd Necklace, gift
I feel like I talk about my Grammy on here a lot, but she's pretty darn cool! She not only introduced me to the best thrift shops around Pensacola, but she was the one who first introduced me to thrift shops years ago. (Way before thrifting was something cool to do. Before it was even called thrifting!)

In other words, Grammy is on my wavelength on a lot of things. :) So when she saw this awesome non-metal, handmade necklace a couple weeks before my trip to see her, she got it for me! Needless to say, I love it. It seems to go well with just about my whole wardrobe. :)

Thanks again, Grammy! Love you!

Always,
Amanda

Estate Sale Treasure: Vintage Lovelies

Vintage Perfume Bottle ($1); Vintage 10K Gold Plated Watch Face ($2): Estate Sale
The estate sale that we went to last Sunday was full of vintage treasures! The hubby found a neat spider web-printed glass bottle and some old license plates, and I found the pretty items above. :)

I was super excited to find this neat old perfume bottle with a fake flower in the topper! I filled it with rose water, and I just love the look of it. :)

The tiny gold watch face is 10K gold plated, which is pretty great for two bucks! The watch doesn't work, and there's no band, but I know I'll think of something to do with it. I was thinking of maybe making a necklace? Let me know if you have any ideas!!

Outfitted In: Ruffles and Rain

Shirt, Button-Up, Mocs, Bag, Bracelets: All Thrifted; Ruffled Umbrella, Estate Sale; Jeans, Rugged Wearhouse
It seems as though any time it rains, my camera lens fogs up and takes grainy photos. This time, though, I didn't really mind. Sunday morning was so relaxed and fun, despite the weather. :) I'll take any excuse I get to use this adorable vintage ruffly umbrella! I scored it for about a buck at a recent estate sale!

Speaking of estate sales, I really need to photograph my finds from Sunday's. This week has been pretty busy, and I haven't been home early enough to take pictures in the sunlight! Hopefully, I'll have time later today, 'cause I got some pretty cool little things!

Always,
Amanda

Thrifted, Gifted: Duck Tales and Manlier Games

Nintendo Games, Video Game Store in Foley, Alabama (~$6 each)
Okay, you guys. This is it- the final items from my trip! When we were in Foley for the day, we stopped at this little video game store that had a bunch of old-school games. The hubby still has (and plays) his original Nintendo, so I called him up and asked which ones I should get for him. (Aren't I a great wife? :))

Anyway, these were the ones he really wanted. And the one he was practically squealing over? Not the original Final Fantasy game, or even Knight Rider, but Duck Tales! Oh, hubby, you're so funny. :)

My funny story about these games has to do with going through security at the Pensacola Airport. You see, my bags were packed full. Like, they were solid to the touch full. Of course, when they scanned my suitcase, they had trouble deciphering what everything was, so they decided to hand-search it! You should've seen the guy's face as he pulls out all my random thrifted items, including these games. His response to them? "That's a weird thing to have in your suitcase, miss."

Um, yeah. I was on vacation- of course I'm going to bring back presents for my hubby! Maybe it was the combination of multiple piles of thrifted jewelry, three purses, three pairs of shoes, clothes, a Polaroid camera, a vintage Star Wars book, and a glass cat figurine stuffed into a tiny carry-on that confused him...

...or maybe I am just weird! ;)

Amanda

Thrifted Remix: That Floral Shirt

Floral Shirt, Thrifted
If there's one shirt that I've worn more than any other in the past year, it's this floral one! It's perfection in the hotter months, due to its perfectly baggy fit and lightweight material. I even wore it once when it was cooler by adding a jacket and a striped scarf. :)

Here's to hoping that this shirt has a lot more life in it!!!

Amanda

Coming up this week: The rest of my Florida finds, this past Sunday's outfit (featuring a ruffly accessory!), and some estate sale treasure!

Florida Thrift Finds: A Necklace and A Bolo

Vintage Necklace & Bolo, Goodwill Pensacola ($2 each)
Nope, I'm still not finished sharing my Florida thrift finds! You can imagine how difficult it was zipping up my suitcase on my way home, but it was worth it. :)

Here are two of the necklaces I found at the same Goodwill as the bracelets I showed you all the other day. Their jewelry case held so many great things for low prices! I never find such a thing here in Richmond, so I had to take advantage of the situation and purchase as many neat pieces as I could. :)

Bolos are a favorite for me, since any metal hangs low enough that it doesn't touch skin. This one in particular caught my interest because of the stone's waves of color.

The blue necklace is very beachy, making it a fitting souvenir of Pensacola. :) The leather cord and glass pendants are unique and colorful, two things I love in jewelry!

Have a great Monday, everyone. :)

Always,
Amanda

PS: I re-vamped the blog, and I'm really loving it! What do you think?
